Week 4: The Madness Begins

Week 4 is the week where the quarter begins to feel real. It begins to feel stressful, short, scary and rushed.

April 22: A rare rare event: my roommate goes to bed at the same time as me. The faint glow of her cellphone makes it's way across the bed frame.

April 23: The Senior Arts Gala at Bing. A fancy reception followed by a classy "talent show" featuring musicians in the senior class. This is the first time I've gotten to be in Bing as an audience member!

Bad seats. :)

A. Stabile killing it.
April 24: It was Admit Weekend! Fortunately I didn't have to interact with many profros. Snapped this right after a showcase concert with SSO at Dink. I felt like I was on a safari as I captured this blurry picture of pack of profros making their way past TAP. I like the picture because it looks like something that could have been taken by an old Kodak disposable. Also captures something about how it feels to be at Admit Weekend: strolling around with people you don't know, your future so ill defined yet somehow also so present as you walk around on what you know will soon be familiar territory.
April 25: Sushi night with "The Quad." Waiting for the bus to spirit us away.
Turns out salmon skin in sushi is AWESOME.

On April 26th I had a pretty bad day and wasn't even upset about neglecting my picture duties.

April 27th: My mom bought this for me on Thursday. It's a monkey, Stanford themed pillow pet. HOW COOL IS THAT! He's already become a fixture on our couch.

Let's see what pictures this coming week has in store! Thanks for reading everyone!

More Spring Quarter

It's been over a week! Lots has been going. Hopefully this is representative of the highlights, although I forgot my camera more and more often so important things won't necessarily be featured here (for example, N.Rich's visit, M.Sharma's visit, Les Mis, etc)

April 11th. On our way to Davis. K.Alarcon was surprised by the flash.

April 12th. O.Olmos is ruler of the buses at Davis. She got us all free tickets just because we were "sisters."

FREE BABY BELL PEPPER PLANTS?!

We were very fond of our plants and carried them around every where.

Dancing up on stage with the band.

The massive crowd at the Turtle House in Davis, were we spent a good part of the afternoon.

April 13th. Tired selfie, because the inside of Barts and Caltrains aren't very interesting.

April 15th. My first passover dinner. I was virtually perpetually hungry.

April 16th. My favorite cubicle in the library is covered with little notes. I like this one best.
April 17th. Visiting R.Mata in his XOX mansion.

April 19th. The first one in the library, because I guess no one is going to write my thesis for me.

Waiting in line for Crepe Night at the French House!

The night has clearly devolved. But we're all 21.
April 20th. Trying to take N.Avery's next profpic at the bookstore.

Easter (Passover friendly) dinner at home.
April 21st. Moody.

I only missed two days. Can you spot them?

A Photo Dump

The first day I missed was yesterday. That's a bummer, because it was going so well! I realized that a better way to organize my project was to label photos with dates, so I'll try that from here on out. Luckily that magical thing called a memory card keeps track!

This past week has been a hectic whirlwind of mostly downs but some ups. I got to spend last weekend in Berkeley catching up with old friends, went to a crazy awesome concert in the city (AND GOT A PICK THAT WAS THROWN INTO THE AUDIENCE AT THE END! :D). I also did a lot of work and thought a lot about how I should be doing work. Still managing to read a little for fun here and there and have almost survived through The Stranger

April 2; It must be spring.
April 3: Beauty outside of the library; so easy to miss!
April 4: Killer seats at SF Symphony on a Friday night, for free to boot.
April 5th was my full Saturday in Berkeley. As we were walking to Cheeseboard for dinner, J.Zhang decided she was a photographer and was going to capture my next profile picture. A series of photos rather than a single one does more justice to the scenario...and believe me when I say there were DOZENS more!

Thank goodness we're nearing the restaurant. I recover my camera and the walk is over.
Getting ready to head back to school on April 6.
On April 7th this guy drives me to the grocery store and carries my groceries ^_^

On April 8th N. Avery comes home with some plants. They are now our children. We will see how long they survive.

On April 9th I went to a HAIM concert in the city with these cute foolz. Unreasonable Wednesdays are excellent.

And on April 10th I forgot. :S But you didn't miss much; I was in the library worrying virtually all day. It wasn't a fun time. Nothing interesting happened.

Today is not over yet, so today's will be in the next batch!

Thanks for making it through to the end of my dump. :)

The beginning of school

The very first day of school it rained and rained (not to mention the second). To my great luck, however, the bike ride to rehearse at Bing Concert Hall was sunny. Our sight-reading was a royal mess, and to top it off we had visitors from some high school listening in. It was embarrassing how much we sucked. I definitely heard some giggling.

On Tuesdays my only class is rock climbing, so I dressed as a hobo all day (read: a baggy shirt and sweatpants). N. Avery happened to be wearing the same tee-shirt because it was one of those free things they give out by the truck-full in White Plaza. I wanted to take a picture of the twinsiness, but you can tell that she was absolutely not enthused by this idea.

So far I haven't missed a day yet! We'll see how long that holds up. I have to remind myself that you can only take good pictures is you're either 1) extremely lucky or 2) taking lots of them. I want to fall into category 2 more than these pictures suggest I am in now.
